Yes on school levies

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/editorials/2010995605_edit07levy.html

THE state falls short of its constitutional obligation to fund education and thus public schools have grown dependent on levy funding for the basics in education, such as textbooks, librarians and structurally sound buildings.

One more reason to grab those special-election ballots and check "yes" on school money measures.

In the Puget Sound region, Seattle, Bellevue, Issaquah, Federal Way, Kent, Lake Washington, Mercer Island, Northshore, Riverview, Shoreline, Tahoma, Snoqualmie Valley and Tukwila have levies on the ballot.

For most school districts, the operating levy represents 25 percent of their budgets. The capital levies pay for basic maintenance. Those are things a school cannot survive without.

A court ruling that state funding is inadequate compels the Legislature to do more. But this imbalance in funding won't disappear overnight.

Until schools are fully funded, the public should support schools by voting "yes" on school levies.

Summary: This is about a levies on campus that it is like a election course. Their budget represent 25% and the court said the funding will be balance.

Response: Like I just said, this is interesting that to encourage young people to join the army and
you may have several guarantee by the court and government.

A 16-year-old teen who was shot in the leg along Rainier Avenue South Wednesday evening told police the shot was fired accidentally by an acquaintance showing off a handgun.

Seattle Police spokesman Mark Jamieson said the injured teen was treated at the scene by Seattle Fire Department medics and transported to Harborview Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his lower left leg.

The shooting occurred just before 6:30 p.m. near the corner of Rainier Avenue South and South Kenyon Street. Jamieson said the victim told detectives that a friend had been showing off the small-caliber pistol to a group of friends when it accidentally discharged.

Detectives are investigating, but have no initial indication that the shooting was anything other than an accident, Jamieson said.
